2015 Aboriginal Student Awards Program

This is a scholarship intended to support Aboriginal students who have at least 2 years remaining in their post-secondary studies. Recipients are based on personal and academic achievement, as well as individual financial need. Status Indians, Non-status Indians, Inuit and Metis are welcome to apply. Students selected will receive up to $4,000/ academic year for educational and living expenses for 2-4 years.

YES! Badges, Basketball, and Bonding

On Saturday, February 28th from 11am-4pm at the Sandwich Teen Action Group, Windsor Police, The Safety Village, and the Sandwich Teen Action Group presents the opportunity to hang with Windsor's finest & Councillor Elliot. You will contribute to two murals that will be hung in the subway system TTC in Toronto during the Pan Am games this summer.

Youth Arts Collective Application

The Arts Council of Windsor and Region will be establishing a group of fifteen young artists to act as a Youth Arts Collective. The YAC will be responsible for acting as the voice for young artists of Windsor Essex and will work together to create projects, initiatives and opportunities for young people in their community.

We live in the midst of change: technological change, social change, political change, environmental change. In modern times humankind has experienced an unprecedented rapidity of change. How do we adapt, or not adapt... and what are the consequences? Students will consider the perspectives of scientists, engineers, writers, and philosophers, as they examine the dynamics of "Change".

Program fee: $450
Supervised overnight shared residence accommodation: $160
All supervision provided by the University of Waterloo.

Attendees will also hear from representatives from the Office of the Registrar, Financial Aid, Counselling, My Career Centre, First Generation Services and Residence.
Campus tours will also be offered at 6:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. for those interested in exploring other areas of the college including residence, classrooms, labs and other on-site features such as the Campus Shop, the cafeteria, and the Library Resource Centre.

Friendly Visiting Volunteer

The Canadian National Institute for the Bind is in need of volunteers to provide assistance to people who are blind/partially sighted for walking, exercising, running errands, reading and sorting, or assisting in their homes.

You must be over 19. You must also commit to 2 hours minimum, once a week minimum, for 16 weeks minimum.

Bowl for Kids Sake Volunteer Opportunity

On February 27th/28th and March 6th/7th, at Empire Lanes (pick one date and session) you have the opportunity to raise money to support the youth mentoring programs at the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Windsor Essex by simply bowling!

You must raise money (at least $50) and will receive 2 volunteer hours for bowling, 2 hours for every $50 you raise, and a maximum of 10 hours will be rewarded for $500 or more raised. You will also receive 2 games of bowling, shoe rental, 2 pieces of pizza, pop, and the chance to win additional prizes.

Picture Day for New Students

If you are a new student to Walkerville and have not had your school picture taken, pictures will be taken on February 13th. If you have lost your student card, there is a $5 replacement fee.

Out Of District Transfers

If you are a student planning to transfer to a different out of district secondary school this upcoming September, you must complete a transfer package. You may receive a package in the office until February 13th.
