The Hour-A-Day Study Club 2015

The Application for the Heritage Hour-A-Day Study Club/Elenore Patricia Alexander Scholarship/Bursary or Memorial Bursary is awarded annually to African-Canadian students who are descendants (either parent) of the Underground Railroad. The opportunity to receive a trust fund is also available.

Applications can be received in the guidance office. The deadline is Sunday, August 9th, 2015.

W.O. Mitchell Writing Prize

Contest open to students entering the first of any English Major of Joint Honours program. You must have a 70% admission average. You must submit a copy of your secondary school transcript and 1 piece of written work. Prize is $1000 (to be applied to level one tuition at the University of Windsor)

Deadline is May 22nd 2015.

Homer F. Plante Creative Writing Awards

These creative writing awards will be offered to senior high school students in Professor Plante's name.

Eligibility
This competition is open to all grade 12 students in Windsor and Essex County.

1. TWO prizes for best poetry ($100 for 1st place, $75 for 2nd) and TWO prizes for best fiction ($100 first place, $75 for 2nd).

2. Applicants may submit up to 5 poems and/or a work of fiction (fiction submissions may not exceed 4000 words).

3. All submissions must be unsigned, but should include the writer's name, address, year, and school in a separate sealed envelope enclosed with the manuscript.

4. Since no submissions will be returned, applicants should retain copies of their work.

5. If you are also applying to the W.O. Mitchell prize c/o the University of Windsor English Dept., please note that each contest requires original works. Contestants cannot submit the same article(s) to both contests.

Run for Rocky 5k 2015

Canada's 2nd national GSA and safer space summit, OUTShine 2015 will be held in Winnipeg, Manitoba from Friday May 15th to Sunday May 17th, 2015.

Sponsor a student to represent Windsor at the OUTShine conference in the spring of 2015. $500.

windsorpride GSA Summer Program

This program is a bi-weekly annual summer program designed for high school students in GSAs to get together and gain support for the following school year. Student develop leadership, mentoring, communication, and marketing skills so they can collaborate with local community resources and learn a comprehensive social/political history of the LGBTIQ.

Sherron Hogan Memorial Scholarship Fund

This scholarship will offer an annual scholarship (minimum of $5000) to be shared among successful applicants. The recipient will be chosen based on the following primary criteria:

- The student must have experienced the impact of cancer either personally or within his/her immediate family.
- The student must be graduating from a secondary school within Windsor/Essex.
- The student must be accepted and registered in a recognized post-secondary program.
- The student must have limited financial resources.

The application deadline is Thursday, April 30th, 2015.
