Mini We Day

On April 16th at Walkerville 9:30-2:00pm, representatives from all local high schools and select elementary schools are invited to discuss local and global origins, how to get involved, and the term empowerment. There will be performers and speakers at the event.

SPIROL Scholarship Opportunities

SPIROL Scholarship

 Students who will attend college (2-year of 4-year at an accredited school) to study Engineering, Basic Sciences or Manufacturing Technology. Scholarships can come up to $5,000 per year.

Siro Martinello Memorial Bursary

The Siro Mertinello Bursary is an award established by his family, friends, and associates to honour Siro's contributions to and participation in the Windsor sports community.

Students must have achieved a "C" average or higher, demonstrated work ethic, shown leadership and concern for others, and participated in extra-curricular activities.

The deadline for applications is Pamphlets with more information may be picked up at the guidance office.

Apprenticeships- Not Just for Boys!

Francine Bryar Memorial Bursary

Applications for this bursary must be received by April 30th. A $500 award will be presented to students with CHDs entering any accredited post secondary educational institution.

In order to be eligible:
a) The applicant must have graduated or will be graduating during the current academic year from a high school in Windsor or Essex County.
b) The applicant must be accepted for admission as a full time student to an accredited post secondary  educational institution.
c) All requested information must be provided or the application may not be considered.

You must be a CHD patient, participate in HDS events to promote awareness of CHD and have made impacts within the community, have character and personal qualities, and possess leadership and provide assistance to others.

Beth Cooper Memorial Bursary

In memory of Beth Cooper for her significant and sustained contribution to and achievements with the Greater Essex County District School Board, the bursary will be rewarded on behalf of those individuals with a learning exceptionality or physical disability.

A graduating student must meet the following criteria in order to be considered for the bursary:
1. The student will be attending a program at a university or college.
2. The student must be identified with a documented learning exceptionality or physical disability.
3. The student must have demonstrated leadership, contributed to school activities, and maintained good academic standing.
4. The student must have demonstrated participation in volunteer and/or community activities.
5. The student must demonstrate financial need for the bursary award.

Bill Lamb Memorial Bursary

The Bill Lamb bursary will value up to $500, shall be offered annually to students who qualify for entrance to a Community College in the Developmental Support Worker Program, and meet the following criteria.

Terms and conditions of eligibility and selection:

Academic Requirements- each applicant must be an above average student.

Character and Interests- Each applicant must be of good character and must have made worthwhile contributions to school and community activities.

Residence- The student must have attended a secondary school under the jurisdiction of the Greater Essex County District School Board for the final two years and must be a resident of Canada.

Wayne State University Spring Open House

WSU Spring Open House on Saturday March 28th (10am-1pm) will include:
-Walking tours of the main campus
-Departmental presentations, including Financial Aid and Housing
-Browse the resource fair
-Meet faculty and WSU students
-Representatives from various areas will be available for the duration of the program

SHSM Industry Workshops

Friday, April 24th at The Sony Centre for the Performing Arts, SHSM students will spend the day with experts learning transferable skills such as customer service, stage combat, and audition prep. Students must see Mr. Nabben for permission slips.
