Are you one of those people who spend their life paranoid that zombies
might become a reality in the future? Do you have an underground cellar with
endless imperishable food and weapons to fight off the impending hoard? Have
you ever spent a weekend with eyes glued to the television binge-watching The
Walking Dead?
If so, this it the opportunity for you!
On October 28th and 29th, the University of Windsor is holding
an Indisciplinary Approaches to Surviving the Zombie Apocalypse Conference which
will inform students about how society will react to a catastrophe and prepare
them for a variety of unseen circumstances.
Topics
will include:
In a zombie apocalypse, how does a civil society survive?
Why are we so fascinated with zombies as a culture?
How has the portrayal of zombies evolved in the media throughout the
years?
How can we use the apocalypse to think more deeply and reflect on
potential changes in education, terrorism, global warming, emergence
preparedness, and the spread of infectious diseases?
Practical
Problems to Reflect on will include:
Regarding defense, is a wall or an army better?
Food security.
Environmental clean-up.
Disease prevention and medical care.
Students are also invited to create a poster to be presented at the
conference. Posters will be judged and prizes will be awarded to first, second,
and third place.
